Volunteer with the HFA

Get ready to make a BUZZ-worthy impact!

We have great opportunities for you to support our students at Highland, and meet other like-minded parents. You can add your name to the general volunteer list and be the first to be notified of upcoming opportunities - no immediate commitment.

You can also check out our current open volunteer opportunities and sign up for events and activities that work with your schedule or interests.  We have hundreds of opportunities each school year!

Incoming 6th grade families - you can also add your name to the list to be the first to know about opportunities when your student starts at Highland!

VOLUNTEER NEEDS - 8TH GRADE GRAD DANCE/PARTY

We need a TON of help to set up for the 8th grade dance/party on May 14th + 15th.

There are many time slots to choose from.  You do NOT need to be an 8th grade parent to help!  We have found that 7th grade parents love helping to learn what is to come for their graduates the following year.

Choose from helping with setup, or chaperoning... or both!  We would love to have you!

VOLUNTEER HERE!

If you are ready to take on a larger role, we are actively looking for the following positions to be filled:

Descriptions of each committee can be found HERE.

Donating to Support our Programs!

The HFA operates through Volunteers, Fundraisers, Donations of Items (snacks, etc), and Financial Donations.  Thank you for supporting the HFA!  To see the most current list of snack donation needs and volunteer opportunties, click on the above "Volunteer Opportunities and Donation Needs".

To contribute to our General Donation to support all that we do:

Did you know that if each family donated $20-$30, the Highland Family Association will be fully funded to support all of the great things that we do for our students, teachers, and families, including:

  • Treat Days for students (4 per year)
  • Teacher Appreciation (meals for conferences, breakfasts, and other gifts)
  • Lunch provided for our 6th/7th grade field day ($4000 for our hungry students)
  • Contributions to Highland’s annual book fair ($500)
  • Popcorn for family movie night ($400)
  • PBIS store prizes for positive behavior (all year long)
  • And to be able to provide when Highland asks for other supports

Thank you for supporting our students. Any donation amount is appreciated.

PBIS Store Donations

Our students have the opportunity to earn PBIS points throughout the school year by exercising SWARM (Safe, Work together, Acheive, Responsible, and Mindful).  Each month, the HFA supplies items and experiences for the students to "Purchase" with their points!

Check out our Amazon Wishlist to purchase items that have been requested by our students.

In addition to our annual events and everything listed above, we also contribute to larger projects.

For the 2025-2026 school year, we committed to reimagining the learning center courtyard to create an outdoor classroom for students and teachers.  This space now includes sustainable picnic tables and moveable adironcack chairs for students, sunshades, and greenspace to make learning outside that much more enjoyable.  This $10,000+ project was accomplished because of the support we receive from our Highland families each year, so THANK YOU!

We had a group of amazing volunteers come in September 2025 and April 2026 to put together new furniture for the space!

We are still hoping to raise additional funds to create a 19'x11' mural in the courtyard (as requested by students) - something we will be working towards in the future!

 Past projects include:

  • 2021-2023 - Updates to the Teacher Lounge including new furniture, fridge, and interactive TV for collaboration
  • Summer, 2020 – HFA supported Learning Center Renovation | Phase 2, that created meeting rooms.  These new spaces are additional work areas for students to collaborate.
  • Summer, 2019 – HFA supported Learning Center Renovation | Phase 1, sponsoring a “Collaboration Corner – The HIVE” where students can work together on projects and creative tasks, as well as collaborate with teachers for extra help. HFA provided furniture for the new workspace.
  • Spring, 2018 – HFA funded the installation of a Projector/ Screen System in the Multi-Purpose Room.
